Yorkshire Archaeological Society
The Yorkshire Archaeological Society was founded in 1863 to preserve the history and archaeology first of the Huddersfield area, but from 1870 onwards of the whole historic county of Yorkshire. This led to the establishment of a library and archive containing a unique collection of printed materials and original documents.
The Society provides public access to its collections, organises lectures and visits, and produces a range of publications, including the Yorkshire Archaeological Journal.
The Society holds some Luddite specific material including publications and also original watercolours which depict scenes of industry in Yorkshire at the time of the Luddite rebellions
